Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC)
The AGEC is designed for students who are planning to transfer to one of Arizona’s three state universities. The AGEC is a block of 35 required credits that satisfy the general curriculum requirements and may be applied to the graduation requirements for the majority of Arizona university majors. The AGEC is further divided into three areas of study to meet your career needs: liberal arts, math and science, and business.

Associate Degrees for Transfer
- Associate in Arts (AA)
- Associate in Science (AS)
- Associate in Business (ABus)
- Associate in Arts in Elementary Education (AAEE)
Are you looking to complete a two-year transfer degree? South Mountain Community College offers the AA, AS and ABus degrees that transfer in full to any of Arizona’s public universities. Built into these degrees is the appropriate AGEC transfer block. The AA, AS and ABus degrees generally provide the core classes needed to obtain a bachelor’s degree.
Associate in Transfer Partnership (ATP)
South Mountain Community College also offers the ATP degree for students who have already decided to attend Arizona State University Main or West AND have selected a major for which an articulation agreement has been developed.
Associate in General Studies (AGS)
The AGS degree is designed for students whose educational goals require flexibility. Most credits are transferable. Always consult an advisor about the specifics of transferability.
Associate in Business (ABus)
This degree is for all Business Majors who wish to transfer to ASU, NAU or the U of A. Associate in Business General Requirements (ABus GR) degree requires a total of 62-63 semester credits for the program of study. The degree transfers as a block without loss of credit to Arizona's public universities. All semester credits used to satisfy the MCCCD Associate in Business General Requirements will apply to university graduation requirements of the university major.

Associate in Arts in Elementary Education (AAEE)
The AAEE is designed for the student who plans to transfer to an Elementary Education program at an Arizona public higer education institution and/or who plans to become a classroom instructional aid.
